This year was a quiet season…for a reason.

With my daughter living out of state to pursue a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice degree, life happened. An unexpected illness led me to extend a 4-week planned visit an additional 6 weeks. God knew where I needed to be.

Since working behind the scenes comes naturally for me, I’m really not mad at the quiet season. It has given me the opportunity to reflect and focus my attention on ways to ensure a positive client experience.

Here are four specific areas that I actively worked on:

1. Systems Review

Having controls in place is my happy place. Consistent with the structured and detailed approach driven by my Type A personality, I updated my client management system and tweaked workflows to ensure I am operating with efficiency and accuracy. One way this shows up for the client is through timely and personalized email communication.

2. Marketing

Listen, this baby boomer is attempting to stay active on social media. I have consistently posted a monthly blog each 1st Monday and a weekly wedding tip each Wednesday since launching Marvalous Weddings, LLC in June 2022. To say the least, this is an ever-evolving process. I will continue to work on strengthening my marketing strategy to attract new clients. Did someone say “Instagram Live”?  I don’t know if she’s ready yet lol!!!

3. Professional Development

In an industry that is constantly evolving, my desire is to stay up-to-date with new trends in order to meet clients’ needs and expectations. I attended several workshops this year that offered opportunities to improve skills that are crucial for planning and executing weddings. As a lifelong learner, I am committed to growing and learning.

4. Networking

Open houses. Venue tours. Bridal shows. Collaborating. These networking opportunities have allowed me to build relationships with other professionals in the industry, and consequently learn from their experiences, as well as gain new insights. As a matter of fact, a potential partnership is in the making as a result of collaborative efforts with a vendor.

Your Turn

Even though…no, it’s safe to say…because it has been a quiet season, I am inspired, confident, passionate, and prepared for the new year ahead.
